Full Steam Ahead to Christmas Memories at Strasburg Railroad
While most of us don’t travel by train anymore, for many Christmases past it was the main mode of transportation—bringing loved ones and brightly wrapped packages from afar. Even though presents and relatives arrive in a fraction of the time it took during the height of the locomotive, trains and the holidays remain as conjoined as mistletoe and mischief. At the Strasburg Railroad this Christmas season, experience one of four different train rides to deck your Christmas with both the aura of history and holiday cheer.
If America’s oldest continuously running railroad is worth a visit year-round, Strasburg Railroad is certainly worth a trip during the holidays. Running from November to December, Strasburg’s Christmas Train Experiences include Santa Claus Limited, Santa’s Paradise Express, Night Before Christmas, and the Christmas Tree Train. Pick from an array of Christmas-themed rides, some of which feature Santa Clause or a performance of “The Night Before Christmas.” Cookies and milk are available on select rides as well. For a unique experience, the Christmas Tree Train experience allows visitors to travel to Leaman Place Grove, where they are able to choose their own freshly-cut Christmas tree, to be delivered back to the station to be transported home. Or for an early morning activity before setting out for some Christmas shopping, partake in a hearty breakfast with Mrs. Claus at the Breakfast with Mrs. Claus dining experience, only available at 8:30 a.m. on weekends.
Be sure to review the train schedule and purchase tickets in advance, as seats are limited. Most train rides will last 45 minutes, so please plan accordingly.
