Journey back to the 18th century to a place where the flag of His Majesty King George still flies. Enjoy the unique Fort Ligonier adventure and excitement of our backcountry heritage during the epic period of the clash for empire between Great Britian and France. Explore the remarkable Fort Ligonier museum exhibits, and see George Washington's original saddle pistols and memoirs as well as the unique archeological collection. Journey through the original historic site with wagons and artillery pieces reproduced from 1758.
Fort Ligonier is situated on a commanding hilltop in the beautiful Laurel Highlands approximately 50 miles east of Pittsburgh, 12 miles from the PA Turnpike, Donegal Exit #91, at the intersection of Routes 711 North and Route 30 West in Ligonier. Allow at least an hour to tour Fort Ligonier plus some extra time to visit the Museum Store which features a wide selection of books, gifts, and souvenirs. The Fort is open Monday - Saturday 10:00am-4:30pm and Sunday 12:00pm-4:30pm from mid-April to mid-November. Admission fee includes access to all galleries and exhibits in the museum and the fort area. Tours are self-guided.
Throughout the season, the Fort hosts a number of special events such as the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra in June and Fort Ligonier Days in October of each year. Vist the website to learn about other events.
