Find the Childlike In You at Hershey’s Chocolate World’s 50th Celebration
If there’s anything that beats a sugar rush, it may be the flood of nostalgia when you rediscover something that tangibly reminds you of your childhood. At Hershey’s Chocolate World—celebrating 50 years this summer—you can combine what is sweet and sentimental in one stroke. Because where else can you be encircled by all things chocolate and rediscover how to be young at heart?
With so many festivities surrounding Hershey’s Chocolate World’s semicentennial, this banner year is an extra special time to plan a trip to Hershey. A new interactive attraction, Hershey’s Great Candy Expedition, was opened on May 19th in honor of the anniversary. This novel experience is a train-themed cinematic adventure to colorful candy worlds and involves projection-mapped screens and promises to engage all five senses—including taste! On June 30th, the day Hershey’s Chocolate World open in 1973, a daylong 50th Birthday Block Party Bash will be held. This event will incorporate a rededication ceremony, a parade, a chocolate game show, live music, and plenty of photo ops. Regardless of when you visit this summer, you’ll be sure to hear the reinvented iconic song “The Great American Chocolate Bar,” a song guaranteed to bring back memories for any child of the 80s. And you won’t want to miss out on Hershey’s chocolate sculpture, a work of art worthy of a world-class chocolatier. Once you’ve sampled your fill of chocolate for one day, don’t bypass the opportunity to stock up on bulk candy and commemorative sweets and souvenirs, including a limited-edition milkshake and souvenir cup, as well as bags, shirts, and Christmas tree ornaments. Note that those who share a birthyear with Hershey’s Chocolate World need only mention to ticketing staff that they were born in 1973 to get a free Hershey bar treat!
Since the summer can be an especially busy time in Hershey, please visit the Hershey’s Chocolate World website to purchase tickets for various attractions in advance.
