PA State Flaming Foliage Festival
Since 1949, the beautiful colors and views of Fall are celebrated at the PA State Flaming Foliage Festival. Great food, crafts, parade and a queen's coronation area all part of the festivities. Join the celebration on October 9-11, 2015 in downtown Renovo. For more information about this year's festivities, call 570-923-2411.
Renovo is located at the intersection of two Scenic Byways - State Route 120 (The Bucktail Trail) and State Route 144 (The High Plateau). Over 100 miles, the Bucktail Trail goes from Lock Haven to Ridgway through Sproul and Elk State Forests. This Byway follows the Old Sinnemahoning Trail used by Native Americans to travel between the West Branch Susquehanna and Allegheny Rivers. The Byway is named after the Bucktail Rangers, a famous Regiment of woodsmen that traveled this route to join the Union during the Civil War. Seven State Parks are within reach of this Byway with access to hundreds of miles of remote hiking trails and many other outdoor recreational activities. The unspoiled forestlands, beautiful hills and steep valleys are breathtaking at this time of year, when the foliage is alive with blazing colors.
A 27-mile corridor, the High Plateau Byway is located between Snow Shoe (Exit 147 off I-80) and Renovo. It provides views of the Sproul State Forest as you travel on top of the plateau of the Allegheny Ridge. You can experience views, unchanged for more than a hundred years, of vast expanse of hardwood forests with evergreens and mountain laurel. Recreational trails crisscross the Byway and scenic vistas with parking offer you ideal locations to capture prize-winning photos or do some hiking.
Plan a leaf-peeping weekend with a drive along a beautiful Scenic Byway as you make your way to Renovo for the Foliage Festival.
