A Pocono Ski Retreat

If your bout of Seasonal Affective Disorder is proving difficult to beat without breaking out of your routine, perhaps a change of pace and perspective are in order at one of the many stellar ski resorts in the Pocono Mountains—where snow won’t slow your morning commute and where “crisp” rather than cold can describe the fresh mountain air.

At Blue Mountain Resort you will find a ski resort with a range of options suitable for everyone. In addition to its mark of distinction—boasting the highest vertical drop, at 1,042 feet—the resort brandishes 40 ski trails, 34 snow tubing lanes, and five terrain parks for various skill levels and thrill preferences. For the experts, Blue Mountain is home to 15 black diamond and double black diamond trails; for beginners, it has the largest terrain for novices in the area. In the month of February, you can also take advantage of Blue Mountain’s Sip & Slide 21+ Snow Tubing on February 6, 13, and 27 for a fun, adults-only way to experience the mountain’s 1000-foot long snow tubing lanes.

Camelback Mountain is the Poconos largest ski resort and has been voted the best resort for skiing in the state. As for snow tubing, it has the largest snowtubing park in the nation, which you can experience after dark as part of Camelback’s Galactic Snowtubing. While 35% of Blue Mountain’s ski trails are diamond or double black diamond, the resort also has an award-winning program for all ages of beginners who are looking to learn to ski for the first time. And when you’ve had your fill of skiing, fill up in other ways by sampling from the menu of one of three on-site restaurants.

Experiences at Jack Frost Mountain and Big Boulder Ski Area, two separate but co-owned ski resorts, can be combined to round-out a skiing experience—and will make you eligible for discounts on the same lift ticket. Big Boulder Ski Area, as the Poconos’ largest terrain park system, attracts snow-sport enthusiasts looking for great freestyle terrain and snowboarding options. Jack Frost Mountain offers 20 skiing trails and, by ensuring a more groomed snow surface, easier terrain for those on the less experienced side of the skiing spectrum.
