Sweet Talk Yourself into a PA Maple Syrup Celebration

For Pennsylvanians, spring is sweet - wildflowers bloom, rivers swell with fresh water, and our thousands of sugar maple trees are tapped for the savory syrup held within. Maple syrup can be enjoyed in many ways, and it doesn’t have to be pancakes, either. From salad dressing to cotton candy and popcorn, Pennsylvania knows what goes best with our all-natural fresh maple syrup.

Visit the Asbury Woods Maple Festival on April 14th and 15th from 11AM-4PM to experience a maple production tour from Native American times to the present. Activities, crafts, demonstrations, and guided, historical maple tours make it fun for the whole family. Asbury Woods Nature Center also has 4.5 miles of hiking trails available for visitors and is the site of the Sugar Shack where maple syrup is boiled down during the festival. Visit the website for more information on the Asbury Wood Maple Festival.

In Meyersdale, celebrate the culture, industry, and commerce that maple syrup has brought to the area for more than 150 years. Located in the Laurel Highlands area, this is also a great place to visit during the spring and is home to the state’s flower - the mountain laurel. Events at Meyersdale’s Pennsylvania Maple Festival include educational demonstrations, artists and crafters, live entertainment, a quilt show, parade, antique shows, tours, and more! The 71st Annual Pennsylvania Maple Festival will be held from March 17-18 and March 21-25. Visit the website for more information.

Celebrate the sweeter things in life this weekend in Coudersport, PA at the 14th Annual Potter-Tioga Maple Weekend on March 17-18. Seventeen sugar making farms and shacks across Potter and Tioga counties offer demonstrations and the finest maple products our state has to offer. Discover the unique qualities and interesting stories behind each farm and learn about the process involved from tapping the tree to what fuel the farm uses. Try the tasty treats each farm specializes in ranging from maple salad dressing and barbecue sauce to maple milkshakes and cotton candy. Take home a recipe or two from each so you can enjoy the maple syrup sweetness from home; some recipes have been passed down over generations!

Stop in at the Sons of Dunn Farm sugarhouse to sample award-winning maple syrup, maple cotton candy, maple candy, and free maple lollipops. Be one of the first 150 visitors to take home a coupon worth $5 off your next meal at Kaytee’s Family Restaurant, just ten to fifteen minutes down the road. You can also visit the Brydonson Farm Pancake Breakfast this weekend for all you can eat pancakes or French toast with sausage. Sunrise Maple is guaranteed to satisfy your taste buds with their servings of maple lemonade and samples of maple covered popcorn and ice cream complete with their signature peanut butter topping. Butler Family Maple displays antique tractors and is also performing boiling demonstrations and serving homemade soup and maple desserts.
