Winter Wine Tasting: The Lehigh Valley Wine Trail
Lift your spirits this holiday season on the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail, eastern Pennsylvania’s fastest-growing wine region. The award-winning wine trail spreads its nine family-owned wineries and vineyards across six counties near the metropolitan area of Philadelphia. Known for its signature grape, Chambourcin, that all nine wineries grow, the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail is a picturesque romantic getaway during the winter months.
The landscape here is made up of what gives Pennsylvania its most breathtaking views: miles and miles of rolling hills stretch to the horizon, scattered with fields of grass and forests. It’s what has made the Lehigh Valley one of the most beautiful escapes for wine-lovers in the Mid-Atlantic United States.
And besides its breathtaking view of Pennsylvania, there’s plenty to do here. Visit one of the nine vineyards, Galen Glenn, for their Holiday Open House on December 17th-18th. The Holiday Open House event couples your taste of wine with a special treat and a thank you gift for each household or group that brings a donation for Toys-for-Tots. Visit their website for more event details, a virtual tour, and the story about this sixth-generation family farm.
Plan ahead for the holiday with the Vino in the Valley event, coming this March 2017. Held over all four weekends, the passport tickets cost $35 for a trip to all nine wineries; each visit earns you a stamp, but make sure you get eight out of the nine to be entered in the Grand Prize Drawing. Tickets also include a raffle ticket for a Lehigh Valley Getaway Package. This getaway package includes overnight accommodations for two, dining, and tickets to other events and attractions. This makes a great gift to show how important a spouse, loved one, or best friend is. Order by December 16th to get them in time for Christmas! Visit the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail’s website for more information on the Vino in the Valley event this spring.
