Snowmobile in the Allegheny National Forest
Rolling mountain ranges, vast swaths of forested landscape, and fun, year-round recreation for the whole family are abundant in Pennsylvania’s only National Forest. Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and in the heart of the Pennsylvania Wilds, the Allegheny National Forest is the perfect destination for a winter adventure in the scenic outdoors. Snowmobile rentals can be found in several locations, making it easy to enjoy the National Forest’s 365 miles of trails. With the trailheads just opening for the season, now is the perfect time to plan your trip. Don’t hesitate, though. The Allegheny National Forest welcomes more than four million visitors every year! The Longhouse Trailhead is located at the intersection of Forest Road 262 and State Route 321. Besides accessing the Allegheny Snowmobile Loop, the parking area also acts as the southern-most anchor point of the 36-mile Longhouse National Scenic Byway. Other trailheads include the Bradford Snowmobile Trailhead and the Marienville Snowmobile Trailhead. To view a full map of snowmobile trails, click here.
