A Saga of Sports: The Western PA Sports Museum
If you were an athlete, then you know the value of sports within our lives and how the experience has left its mark on you, defined you, or made you strong. Sports teach us to be better, to push the limits of our bodies but more importantly our minds, and to carry mankind to further heights than we had ever believed possible. It’s why we keep track of our athletes’ records and it’s why we remember them. It’s why we have the endless drive within us to run quicker, swim faster, or throw harder. In Pittsburgh, the importance of sports and Pennsylvania’s athletes are remembered and immortalized in the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum.
Celebrate your favorite teams and players, the most memorable victory, and the most famous moments of sports in history in this 20,000 square-foot museum. From boxing to baseball, this museum recounts the greatest achievements in the history of sports and athletics (and it’s not all about the Steelers). Enjoy walking along the hallways as a stunning collection of sports memorabilia and artifacts decorate the walls, cases, and displays. Tackle the seventy interactive activities you can find, and view statues of some of football’s greatest players. Relive the final moments leading to the gold medal, the home run, the Super Bowl victory, and the Stanley Cup. Whatever your sport, whatever your team, and wherever you’re from, the athlete in you will find a familiar and comfortable home in the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum.
The museum is open year-round 10AM-5PM daily and closed New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Visit the museum’s website for more information about the Western PA Sports Museum.
