The Gettysburg Academy
Built in 1814, the Gettysburg Academy was the county’s first public school and housed the Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary as well as Gettysburg College. It has been referred to as the “cradle” of higher learning in Adams county. The property is located two blocks from the historic downtown square of Gettysburg. The Academy is one of nine properties In Gettysburg that can showcase an artillery shell from the Civil War battle. Today, with its historic charm and rich history, The Gettsyburg Academy has many modern amenities and beautiful gardens. Enjoy a homemade cooked breakfast each morning.
